Mandala Gardens

Andrew McConnach is staging a new exhibition at the Third Floor Art Gallery in the Central Library in Portsmouth. The exhibition, entitled Mandala Gardens, is a selection of paintings and relief prints that can be best described using the words of the Tibetan teacher Tarthang Tulku – “Each of us has a natural receptivity to the principles of the mandala: beauty and harmony, interconnectedness and wholeness. These principles are directly revealed within the world of nature and within the human heart. The time has come to explore the connection between the inner and outer environments, to develop appreciation in the place of aggression. Nourished by beauty, we can recover balance and openness. As the flower of the heart unfolds, joyful compassionate action comes forth naturally and bears fruit that we can harvest and share. Once we heal the human heart, we will be empowered to heal the planet. In protecting nature, we will be serving the highest human values, the flowering of the full potential of humanity.”

The exhibition runs from 3 – 29 May 2010, previewing on Saturday 1st May 6.30-8.30pm.
